Bekim Asani je jedan od profilisanijih LGBT aktivista u Makedoniji . On je predsednik United LGBT Tetovo , koja radi na potpunoj inkluziji LGBT osoba u makedonskom društvu . Situacija za LGBT osobe u Makedoniji je veoma teška , jer su diskriminacija i nasilje široko rasprostranjeni u celoj zemlji . Zakoni protiv diskriminacije u Makedoniji ne prepoznaju seksualnu orijentaciju i rodni identiteta i izražavanje , a istopolni parovi nemaju pravnu zaštitu . Bekim Asani je dobio nekoliko pretnji smrću, ali, iako je situacija za LGBT osobe veoma teška u našim balkanskim društvima , on nastavlja svoju borbu za ljudska prava za sve. Osim toga, on je poznat po svojoj borbi za sva ljudska prava, ženska prava , prava dece i Roma.

Bekim Asani is one of the most profiled LGBT activists in Macedonia. He is  president of the LGBT United Tetovo, which works for the full inclusion of LGBT people into Macedonian society. The situation for LGBT people in Macedonia is very difficult, as discrimination and violence is widespread over the country. Anti-discrimination laws in Macedonia do not include sexual orientation of gender identity and expression, and same-sex couples lack legal protection. Bekim Asani has received several death threats, but even though the situation for LGBT people is difficult in our Balkan societies, he continues his work for human rights for all and the right to be who you are. Moreover he is well known for his fight for human rights in general, women’s rights, children’s rights and Roma; as well as their many intersections.
